For me, photographing is a way of capturing the intangible in time: a knowing glance, a subtle gesture, a unique and unrepeatable memory. A photograph doesn’t just capture the visible: it preserves an absence, a void, something unspoken but present.
It’s a way of wordlessly naming those moments that slip away, but which, thanks to the image, we can transform into eternal moments.
My name is Sílvia Escandell. I grew up between Ripoll and Menorca, where I currently live. From a very young age, I learned to enjoy photography thanks to my father, who taught me to experiment without fear and unleash my creativity.
My photographs have a documentary approach. I believe in the beauty of spontaneity, in the authenticity of people, and in moments that simply happen; you just have to learn to look at them.
In my sessions, I help people feel comfortable and able to be themselves, without rigid poses or artifice. I observe the moment to capture those sincere glances and genuine gestures that make us unique.
In each photographic experience, my camera and I become discreet witnesses that reveal what is not visible to the naked eye, creating memories that will endure over time.
